I remember Filkins a village that put on , sponcered runs, village parties, village fates, bonfire night, street parties, pool its a knock out, and even a tug off war event against the raf, aunt sally comps. Something for everyone at every age a welcoming village. The Filkins now only puts on events that suit only the people in charge ( some call them the wine club). Althought im not really a person to want to mix, i do see the younger age and people out off the click being left out. So the question is i guess what type off village do we want to portray outwould for the futre.

I agree with a previous post by someone. Richard has done well creating this forum. I have always said to people, our council needs something like this on a app. This would take this village into 2023. Apps are easier to use and you get notice pings when wanted. So much in this village can be done if we utilise the people we have and i feel and app would make Filkins more inclusive. Different opinions good or bad are better than stale opinions from the same type of people all the time. You can have needed open forums like this on it. Work needed space, where people can log there interest to help. Events and a diary and loads more. And yes i know we have a news letter and web page. We have moved on from a telegram and its got to be time to make another jump to encourage inclusivity?

Can Filkins purchase or have an agreement with the owners of the land behind the woolen weavers to create a beautiful wooded walk. Many people use the area just for their dogs to foul but it could be much more. A little wooded walk and open field of wild flowers and hedges seats etc etc. This would be something the village could be proud of and encourage wildlife.
