Village Halls are starting to close in many villages. They find, as we do, that village organisations are using them less. Here in Filkins, only about 10% of Village Hall income comes from hires by village organisations. Should we encourage village organisations with 'deals', and encourage individuals to run communal events for villagers. Or should we accept the change, and focus our hall more towards private hires?

Could we plan for the future to have Loop Systems installed in the Village Hall and the Churches. Several residents with hearing aids have mentioned that it is not easy to hear clearly within these village facilities. Many more of us will no doubt be in a similar postion at some point!
First, thanks to Richard and the team for setting up this forum - so many good ideas!
I wondered if we might look at whether the village hall or village shop could possibly have solar panels or other renewables installed. Need to protect the character of buildings of course. But it would contribute to reducing carbon emissions and, for an initial capital outlay, reduce energy bills. Generally, I think these things tend to pay back in 6-8 years.
Hopefully a helpful suggestion.
