I would love to be able to get to Carterton (and thence to Oxford, London) from Filkins by public transport. Alternatively if I felt I could cycle safely that would also help.

When it comes to buses it would be lovely to have them. But sadly its a changing world not always for the better. Years ago women never drove and there wasnt many cars on the road. Now any teen coming out of school learns to drive straight away so the need for buses have made it not very profitible. As the new lot of driving people grow up there will be even less need for them.
The amount of times i saw empty buses go through the village was a high. It was a complete waste of money.
Also you can get anything delivered now shopping ect ect and even doctors are on phone and will be video chat appointments.
