Should we have more housing development? Would such development be a Good Thing, and help us retain our village facilities... Shop, pub, hall etc.
And if we have more housing, where should it be?
Our village developed along a main road, and it is therefore very long and thin... As everyone who ever puts newsletters through letterboxes knows only too well!
And because it was once the busy A361, our main village road is unusually wide and the public space feels expansive. This is partly what makes our village feel different from others... Compare it with the road through Langford, for instance.
If our village develops with more housing, should it be situated and designed to fit in with this linear 'feel', or should we aim to create a village with a more obvious centre?
Hoping for some input from others... How about straddling the B4477 from the Gassons into the fields on the Langford side. This puts the road into the village, and might give more opportunity to slow the traffic... For at the moment, drivers either do not know they are entering a village or (more likely) would not react for they do not see any houses.
